Amy & Matt's HANDMADE WEDDING!

Talk about a HANDMADE WEDDING!

Everything done was handmade and the venue was the Easter Seals Camp where they worked and met. It turned out great and were able to cut costs in some creative ways.

Amy wanted a very informal wedding and she wanted cupcakes on cake plates on each table but having a low cost wedding was very important - so after trying a few different things, I came up with the idea of making them out of Terra Cotta pots and bottoms. The "plate" is an inverted 11" pot bottom and it is sittingon an inverted 4" terra pot. I put 2 - 4" bottoms edge to edge and put them between the plate and the base to gine it a little more height. I painted them green and decoupaged each one with coordinating pink and green floral scrap-booking paper. The cake plates only cost about $7-$8 each. We gave them to special guests after the wedding.

We made pinwheels with similar paper for the kids to take down to the lakeside where they got married. Of course there was paper left, so I decided to buy chocolate covered candy sticks and attach them to mini pinwheels as favors. It was an inexpensive favor and cute.

I did the girl's bouquets and the other flower arrangements and all the corsages, boutonnieres and all those flowers cost were about $140. They were fresh hydrangea, alstroemeria, wax flowers and seeded eucalyptus. So much less expensive to do it yourself! I got my flowers through a local grocery store.

Amy made her own hairpiece from one she saw on Etsy.

I hung large painted wooden initials from several trees along the path where people walked to get to the lake.

You'll see a bowl of rocks in one of these pics. To explain...they wanted something traditional at the pier where they were married and I found an old tradition on the internet. When people were married by a lake or other body of water, the guests would take a rock and throw it in the water after the ceremony as a sign of good luck for the new couple. Also -they don't have a minister so Matt's best friend got ordained online and married them! Talk about non-traditional!

It was pretty cool. - A great time was had by all!

Definitely a MORE MEANINGFUL HANDMADE WEDDING!
